In March 2002, SIBMAS, the International Association of Libraries and Museums of the Performing Arts, released an  International Directory of Performing Arts Collections and Institutions.

We recommend that USITT establish a "Design Registry" focusing on collections containing the work of a specific professional group: scenographers and theatre designers.  SIBMAS is interested in getting as much input as is possible in order to make the use of the directory even better, but has not addressed this question in the main directory because of the lack of all the necessary information needed. 

We urge USITT to consider the possibility of sponsoring a fellowship for a graduate student to help identify relevant holdings within collections specifically related to theatre design and scenography.  These pages provide some ideas about how this might work as a resource for designers, scholars and historians.
